Methodology
How We Define "AI-Related"
Our database tracks job losses where artificial intelligence played a role in the layoff decision, categorized by confidence level:
- Highly Probable (47% of cases): Companies explicitly cited AI, automation, or AI-driven restructuring as a primary factor.
- Probable (41% of cases): Strong evidence of AI involvement based on job types, company statements, and industry patterns.
- Somewhat Probable (12%): Circumstantial evidence suggests AI may have contributed to the decision.
Important Data Limitations
This database uses publicly available information. Since some layoffs are never publicly disclosed or never have a specific, publicly available reason, we expect these values to somewhat underestimate actual AI-related job losses.
